Yet that advance declaration was not followed by any state evacuation orders, and the population largely sheltered in place as Helene hit the steep, wooded hills of western North Carolina, squatting over the area, unleashing more than an inch of water an hour for more than a day. The unprecedented, relentless downpour, falling on ground already saturated by rain the week before, tore old pines and hardwoods out by the roots, creating arboreal torpedoes that rocketed down the steep inclines; water that turned photogenic stony creeks into whitewater torrents, lifting ancient streambed boulders and tossing them like chips on to roads and into homes and buildings. The storm left 230 people dead, nearly half of them in North Carolina, with dozens still missing as of early November.

As residents in Asheville, Chimney Creek, and other smaller communities continue to pick up from the carnage, after-action reports indicate government agencies at the federal and state levels were slow to react. Interviews with several private relief groups that sprang into action after Helene, along with statistics provided by congressional sources, indicate that Cooper’s office and the Biden administration were slow to activate military personnel and assets like helicopters that were critical in the days after the storm. In addition, budgetary moves and internal communications have also drawn questions about how the Federal Emergency Management Agency is spending its money and how it envisioned its purpose in a Biden administration suffused with “diversity, equity and inclusion” mandates.

FEMA is also wrestling with revelations that politics had influenced some of its relief efforts. The agency fired a staffer who told crews to avoid houses in storm-damaged parts of Florida that displayed Donald Trump campaign signs. The dismissed worker said this week her orders were not an isolated incident and that FEMA avoided “politically hostile” zones in the Carolinas, too.

“There seems to have been a priority shift, period,” said Eric Eggers, the vice president of the conservative Government Accountability Institute. “It seems impossible to separate its mission creep and its ideological pursuit of an agenda when its duties are to fix that bridge or clear that road.” […]

Over the summer of 2024, Obama emerged as a central figure in government censorship of the internet while launching a new campaign against gun ownership. In earlier times, the spectacle of an ex-president leading simultaneous campaigns against the First and Second Amendments might have generated some interest in the legacy media. But as last week’s election coverage proved, the press is no longer interested in reporting hard facts or maintaining transparency. The mockingbird media are now servants of those holding power and will do anything to advance their interests.

Yet there is another interpretation of Obama’s peculiar involvement with Democrat operatives during the Trump and Biden administrations. It is that Obama was never the leader of anything, neither then nor now.

Post-presidency, Obama was fixated on collecting laundered wealth from intermediaries such as Spotify and Netflix, buying luxury properties, and hanging out on private yachts with celebrities. His stratospheric levels of egotism and absence of self-awareness motivated him to occasionally appear in public next to Biden as a larger, more popular figure, signaling that he was “The One” who was calling the shots. We know this to be completely false.

Obama has proven to be a celebrity-obsessed, pretend billionaire with the lazy pretense of having any positive influence whatsoever on the inner workings of the American government. Mr. Emhoff has admitted not only to cheating on his ex-wife during their marriage but to doing so with their young child’s teacher. And not only did he cheat on his wife and lie to conceal his affair, he has acknowledged that he impregnated his lover, but that “she did not keep” their baby.

Of course, Emhoff reportedly only came clean about his cheating and lying after he learned that a British tabloid was about to bust him. It turns out, as reported by CNN, that the affair and terminated pregnancy were known to the Harris/Biden campaign staff prior to the 2020 presidential election campaign, but were concealed from the American people. We still do not have all the relevant details.

Did Emhoff or anyone on his behalf pay the teacher for her silence? Did she get an abortion and, if so, did Emhoff pay for it? If so when was such payment made? Was it to buy her silence during the election? If so, will District Attorney Bragg or any other prosecutor bring criminal charges for trying to affect an election or for making an undisclosed campaign contribution? Has there been any investigation at all in furtherance of the public’s right to know as much as possible about our candidates for president? […]

Something deep in our psyche looks for that combination of confidence, popularity, social skills, and independence that make up being cool. This time around, Trump is the cool candidate, and Kamala is completely cringe.

Her lack of authenticity and charisma seem to be the primary reason for her losing ground with traditionally safe constituencies. She has looked weak by avoiding the press until recently, and her lack of substance quickly became apparent in her few appearances to date.

By contrast, look at Donald Trump’s recent trip to McDonald’s. It was a huge hit, and the media looked petty in downplaying it. He was having fun, as were the many employees there. He is a celebrity, and he is often generous to humble people such as McDonald’s workers.

He did not pretend to be one of them; he still wore his crisp white shirt and power tie. But he showed everyone respect, was genuinely curious questions about how things are done, and, by lending his time and celebrity, elevated the status of a job that often does not receive adequate respect. In ordinary times, all honest, professional journalists and specifically media critics would be dissecting the striking lapse in journalistic ethics at CBS. On the Oct. 6 broadcast of “Face the Nation,” the network played an excerpt of the full “60 Minutes” interview that would air on prime time the next day. In the preview, CBS correspondent Bill Whitaker first asks Harris whether the U.S. has any “sway” over Netanyahu, and the vice president responds by mentioning “the aid we have given to Israel,” the threat posed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, and the “imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself.”

But when “60 Minutes” aired Harris’ answer, the network spliced together a substantially different response: “The work that we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles.”

The message was clear: no more aid to Israel. No more threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. And instead of the necessity of ensuring Israeli self-defense, viewers get a sound bite about the Biden-Harris administration’s diplomatic efforts.

It gets worse. In the prime time “60 Minutes” broadcast, CBS removed Harris’ second answer from the preview clip and swapped in a statement the vice president made in response to a different question. In the substitute answer, Harris declares that the Gaza war must end: “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.” […]

By attempting to nullify the votes of over half of the country, Democrats have chosen to wage war against Americans who don’t agree with them. It is their last-ditch effort to cling to power and they don’t care what damage is done to the country in the process. The damage done, in fact, is part of the plan.

An army of lawyers from both sides is being deployed across the nation in anticipation of massive voter fraud, similar to what went on during the 2020 election. While Republicans are out there to identify and prevent the fraud, Democrats are obfuscating and concealing their efforts to count ballots multiple times, stop the rejection of invalid ballots, and keep objective observers from reporting on the mishandling of ballots by those intent on committing election fraud. Democrats are actually working to allow non-citizens to vote.

So-called fact-checkers point out that this only applies to local and state elections, not federal elections. Don’t fall for this misdirection. Why have Democrats, from Joe Biden on down, pushed so hard to allow non-citizens to vote? Once voting by non-citizens in local and state elections is legitimized, America as we have known it for more than 240 years will no longer exist.

All this will be followed by escalating the lawfare against Trump with possible prison sentencing between the election and inauguration in one or more of the criminal cases he faces. […]

The Trump campaign is running ads in Michigan that warn autoworkers: “Kamala Harris wants to end all gas-powered cars.” Third-party groups such as Driving Force Action are also airing ads in the Great Lake State and other Rust Belt battlegrounds that hammer Kamala and the Democrats for their record. These ads aren’t based on fake news; they rely on what Kamala has actually supported and testimonials from those whose livelihoods could be destroyed by a ban on gas-powered cars.

However, Politico recently tried to argue that the Trump campaign ad is “false” with some of the flimsiest reasoning imaginable:

The attack line is a distortion of two policies Vice President and President Joe Biden have pursued: stricter tailpipe pollution standards for newly built cars along with hefty subsidies to produce the new generation of electric vehicles in the U.S. — along with Harris’ now-disavowed support for legislation phasing out gas-powered cars.
