As much as I sometimes try, I can’t stop myself from writing about the latest nonsense on ABC’s ridiculous show, “The View.” This was one of those times. As one might expect, the lady geniuses were beside themselves over NYC subway hero Daniel Penny being found not guilty.
First, moderator Whoopi Goldberg went off the rails about Penny having a celebratory drink with his lawyers after the verdict. Next up, Sunny Hostin, ever the overt racist, blasted Americans who lack compassion for Jordan Neely, the deranged black man who threatened white and black passengers on a subway car until he was subdued by Penny in a chokehold until police arrived, and subsequently died.
Oh, and bombastic Joy Behar also tossed in her blow-hard two cents.
Whoopi whined (emphasis, mine):
Penny’s defense was that he was de-escalating the situation, after Neely threatened other commuters. And he celebrated the verdict with his lawyer while Neely’s family was mourning the loss.
I don’t know that seeing them celebrating in a bar made me comfortable, you know? I mean, you killed a guy. The man is dead, and maybe you just — you take the celebration home.
