(Just The News)—South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to meet President Donald Trump at the White House next week, amid a feud over the United States accepting white South Africans as refugees, the South African government said Wednesday.
Trump has accused the South African government of committing genocide after it allegedly passed racist, anti-white policies. He was referring to South Africa’s Expropriation Act, which allows the government to seize unused land without compensation in certain cases.
President Ramaphosa denies that that has happened. President Trump has denied that race played a part in his decision to accept the South Africans as refugees.
Ramaphosa is expected to visit with Trump on Wednesday, May 21, but will be in Washington, D.C., from May 19-22.
“President Ramaphosa will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House, in Washington DC to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of interest,” his office said. “The President’s visit to the US provides a platform to reset the strategic relationship between the two countries.”
